A message sent to company employees on behalf of their representatives stated: “We did everything we could to avoid this moment, but unfortunately there was no choice.” It added: “For a very long time we tried to reach agreements with management, but the distance between what management is willing to give and a collective agreement that would give AIG employees what is accepted in the market is very large.”
Against the backdrop of demands for improved wage conditions, employee representatives presented the company’s financial figures, noting that “over the past two years, the company presented excellent business results, including in the first quarter of 2026. Company management has no real reason not to give company employees what they deserve: A proper collective agreement that significantly improves their wages and conditions.” In this context, the message from the committee and the Histadrut emphasized that “company employees are the main engine of its success, and they must be compensated for that exact reason.”
Alongside the dispute over wage conditions and the collective agreement, another central issue at the heart of the dispute is management’s intention to implement a voice agent based on artificial intelligence (AI) at the company. According to claims by employee representation in the statement, the company is acting unilaterally on this matter, with a pilot currently operating designed “to simulate, one to one, the work of company representatives.”
The committee expressed concern that these moves could lead to job cuts and damage employees’ occupational stability. In light of this, employees are demanding that the manner of implementing AI technology be regulated as part of the new collective agreement, so that this step will not harm company workers.
AIG statement: “We regret the decision of the workers’ committee and the Histadrut to declare a labor dispute while serious negotiations are underway, in which the company presented proper and good proposals regarding employee wages and employment terms. AIG believes in innovation and the implementation of AI technologies as part of its business development and the improvement of service to its customers. The implementation of these tools will be done responsibly and thoughtfully, through dialogue with employee representation in accordance with the law. The company will continue to act to reach a proper and balanced agreement for the benefit of the employees and the company.”
